Islands' Culture and Heritage : Tourism development opportunities

On Tuesday, October 7th 2014, about twenty members of the tourism industry took part in a conference/workshop on the promotion and interpretation of the marine cultural heritage, an event organized by Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine in collaboration with the ACCORD Recreational Tourism Cluster and the Musée de la mer. Culinary Tourism Rendez-Vous 

In April 2014, the Regional Tourism Cluster and Le bon goût frais des Îles de la Madeleine (Taste the Îles de la Madeleine) organized a three day Rendezvous between Îles de la Madeleine producers and restaurateurs. The event was designed to stimulate reflection and to generate discussion on the culinary identity of the destination, and on the ways to highlight the regional heritage through its food products.

The various workshops set up by Emmanuelle Choquette and Audrey Simard, consultants with the firm Papilles were focussed on the needs of the enterprises targeted by the Cluster. Valuable contributions were made by Christophe Alary, who teaches at École hotelière de la Capitale, and Caroline Baldit, who teaches hotel management techniques at Collège Mérici.

Online marketing training and webinars

During February/March 2014, twenty tourism professionals took part in a series of E-Marketing Webinars given by Frédéric Gonzalo, speaker, blogger and consultant specializing in marketing, social media and E-Tourism. Consult the press release (in french only) 

Wild Gourmet Spree networking activity

This half-day activity was designed to help retaurateurs, producers, artists and artisans interested in participating in the 2014 edition of the Wild Gourmet Spree to learn more about the origin and goals of the concept, explore possible pairings and brainstorm on future themes.

Îles de la Madeleine represented at World Food Travel Summit held in Göteborg, Sweden

The Iles de la Madeleine Recreational Tourism Cluster and Taste the Îles de la Madeleine were participants in the 2013 World Food Travel Summit held September 21 to 25 in Göteborg, Sweden. The event is tailored for professionals involved in the development and the promotion of culinary tourism. There were more than 200 participants from 28 countries. See the press release

Networking activity on cultural tourism

In cooperation with the Institut du patrimoine culturel of Laval University, the Cluster organised a conference on the new trends in cultural tourism. See the press release (in french only).

Networking day with restaurateurs and producers

In cooperation with Le Bon goût frais des Îles de la Madeleine, the Cluster organised a networking activity designed to sustain the development of culinary tourism on the archipelago.

HR training mornings

In cooperation with Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine and the Conseil québécois des ressources humaines en tourisme (CQRHT), the Cluster held two half days of training conferences for enterprise managers. Among the topics discussed were the recruitment and retention of employees, the effects of the reform of employment insurance on seasonal employment, and the employer's brand image.
