Doing Your Part by Sorting Waste

In an environment as fragile as the Îles de la Madeleine, the challenges related to waste management are numerous. The territory is not suitable for landfill, and its geographical remoteness means that we must export our waste.

That said, much of the success of effective waste management is not technical but social and behavioral. Each of us can make a difference through our daily actions and consumption choices.

To preserve the quality of the environment, everyone is encouraged to sort their waste. To properly dispose of your waste, consult the tools provided online by the Municipality of Les Îles de la Madeleine.

Need to dispose of a propane tank or used batteries? Drop them off at the Waste Management Center (CGMR), one of the two transshipment sites, or in the drop-off box at certain businesses.

Supporting Reclamation Businesses

Social economy enterprises on the archipelago offer citizens and visitors high-quality second-hand items (clothing, dishes, furniture, etc.). Do not hesitate to visit them!
