Sorting and reducing waste

In an environment as fragile as the Magdalen Islands, the issues related to waste management are numerous. The territory is not very suitable for landfill and the geographical distance means that we have to export our waste.

That said, a large part of the success of sound waste management is not technical, but social and behavioural. Each of us can make a difference through our daily actions and through our consumption choices.

In order to preserve the quality of the environment, everyone is invited to sort. To properly dispose of your residual materials, consult the Municipality of the Magdalen Islands' sorting guide.

Need to dispose of a propane tank or used batteries? Drop them off at the Centre de gestion des matières résiduelles (CGMR), at one of the two transfer sites or in the drop box of certain businesses.

Supporting recycling businesses

Social economy enterprises work on the archipelago to offer citizens and visitors good quality second-hand objects (clothing, dishes, furniture...). Go and meet them! Ressourcerie de Ré-utiles and Coop la Machine.

In the Islands, I am committed to sustainable and responsible tourism.
