Visit the islands without your car?

Travel responsibly and sustainably

visit without car

The Îles de la Madeleine archipelago is only 85 kilometers long. To contribute to the preservation of our ecosystem, more ecological alternatives can be used to discover the islands at your own pace and according to your route.

Adopt public transportation

The Régie intermunicipale de transport Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine organizes public transportation services throughout the archipelago. Organizing your trip with REGIM allows you to reduce the use of your personal vehicle. You can make real savings and greatly reduce your greenhouse gas emissions.

The RÉGÎM also provides its users with bicycle racks on most of its vehicles. Up to 2 bicycles can be installed on the archipelago's buses
Some regular routes require a prior reservation, while others are available without a reservation. To find out if you need to make a reservation, consult the schedule.

Use the car-sharing service

The Municipality of the Islands and REGIM share their electric vehicle with the population, under certain time slots, in order to increase the offer of transportation on the territory. In order to use the car-sharing service, all users must register with the RÉGÎM. For more information, visit the RÉGÎM website.

Pedal and enjoy the view!

Whether on the trail, on the gravel road or on the beach, discover the most beautiful landscapes of the islands by bike. A soft mobility to adopt with a road bike, hybrid bike or even a fat bike with electric assistance.

Local companies offer rental of road bikes or bikes with electric assistance.

Recharge your batteries and visit by electric car

Come visit the Îles de la Madeleine with your electric car ! Charging stations are installed throughout the archipelago. You can consult the Circuit électrique website to plan your trip to the Islands and find a charging station on site. An interactive map will help you locate them all.

Walk and visit at your own pace!

Since 2017, the Club de plein air des Îles has marked out more than 230 km of trails throughout the archipelago. To the rhythm of your steps, walk these trails and discover, in a very alternative and respectful way, the beauty of the Magdalen Islands. An unforgettable visit that will contribute to the conservation of our territory, to your well-being and to improve your physical condition.
