Travel responsibly and sustainably

The experiential tourism pilot project of the Îles de la Madeleine will be presented during an international conference

As part of a call for papers from the organizing team of the first international conference on experiential tourism (occurring from October 9 to 11 in Greece), the pilot project initiated by the Recreational Tourism Cluster in the Îles de la Madeleine and the ÉCONOMUSÉE Society Network has been selected.

This conference aims to present the current trends of experiential tourism, improve the recognition of tourism experience, give tools, and improve the knowledge of tourism contributors and tourism product creators. The event will take place in Santorini, a Cyclades island in the Aegean Sea located 75 kilometers southeast from Continental Greece.

Registered in the Successful case studies and practises around the world category, the presentation of the Tourism Cluster will regard, among others, the preferential collaboration approach, the steps of the project, the results among all businesses involved, and the pilot activities that came from the approach.

It should be reminded that the purpose of the project, which was carried out in cooperation with the Service aux entreprises of Groupe Collegia, was to assist a group of businesses from the Îles de la Madeleine wishing to develop new tourism experiences.

The approach engaged half a dozen of tourism enterprises, including two museum organizations, an agri-food economusem and three arts and crafts workshops. The project helped to set the limits of experiential tourism in the businesses and plan the resources (either material, financial, human, etc.) required for the launching of a new experiential tourism offer.

To follow up with the event, the highlights will be shared with the businesses of the Îles de la Madeleine; among others, they will be presented during a special day focusing on innovations in terms of tourism product and service development, which will be held on November 12, 2015.
