The Magdalen Islands archipelago is one of the most vulnerable areas to climate change in Quebec. The consequences of these changes are evident in ecosystems, infrastructure, and the built heritage of the Magdalen Islands. Attention FragÎles' mission has been to protect the exceptional biodiversity of the Magdalen Islands to support the quality of life of its communities for over 35 years. Recognized as a regional environmental council since 2023, the organization carries out activities involving consultation, education, awareness-raising, intervention, inventory, characterization, restoration, citizen support, and environmental advisory services. It works in collaboration with over thirty local, regional, and national partners, as well as with citizens and users of natural environments. I care about the Islands, I take care of them!
By planting dune hay, we too are taking root in the protection of the Islands: our team invites you to take part in the local ecological effort by participating in a dune hay (marram grass) planting activity and making a difference...
Thus, you will contribute, one bit at a time, to stabilizing the dunes while discovering a distinctive ecosystem of the Magdalen Islands!
This activity is suitable for all ages, provided you are able to walk a short distance on the beach and have some mobility to perform gentle movements.
Please note: FragÎles provides all the planting equipment.
Bring hiking boots, appropriate clothing, and a water bottle.
