Magdalen Islands, August 20, 2026 — Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine is proud to announce the signing of a five-year partnership agreement with the Fondation Madeli-Aide pour l'éducation. This collaboration aims to encourage students from the Magdalen Islands to pursue tourism-related studies and to help develop a skilled new generation of professionals for the archipelago's tourism industry.
Under this agreement, the Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine Scholarship, valued at $ 1500, was awarded for the 2026-2027 academic year to Joséphine Rodriguez-Lebel, who is studying Hotel Management at Cégep Limoilou.
"Tourism depends first and foremost on the people who bring it to life. By supporting young Islanders who choose to pursue studies in this field, we are investing in a skilled and committed new generation with deep ties to our community. This five-year agreement represents a tangible investment in the future of our industry and our community," said Michel Bonato, General Manager of Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine.
The scholarship was presented as part of the Fondation Madeli-Aide pour l'éducation's annual awards ceremony, held on August 3, 2026. During the event, the Foundation awarded 110 scholarships, representing a total investment of $202,166, to students enrolled in vocational, college and university programs.
Through this agreement, Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine also seeks to raise awareness of the career opportunities available in the tourism sector and to highlight the importance of education and training in maintaining an authentic, high-quality visitor experience.
Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine warmly congratulates Joséphine Rodriguez-Lebel on receiving this scholarship and wishes her every success as she continues her studies.
