Îles de la Madeleine tourism strategy rewarded in the 2022 Prix excellence tourisme

Îles de la Madeleine, Tuesday, October 25, 2022 — The Alliance de l'industrie touristique du Québec revealed last Friday the winners of the 2022 edition of the Prix excellence tourisme, where Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine was rewarded in the category Tourisme responsable et durable - Réseau.

This category rewards the actions taken within a global vision of sustainable development built on environmental, economic, and social pillars. It also aims to highlight the efforts of the network in the promotion and recognition of responsible practices.

The application presented by Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine, chosen among the finalists from other regional and sectorial tourism associations, described the destination's tourism strategy elaborated in partnership with the GRITTS (Groupe de recherche et d'intervention Tourisme, territoire et société) from ESG-UQAM. Titled Agir ensemble pour un tourisme responsable et durable (Acting together for responsible and sustainable tourism), the strategy results from a comprehensive consultation process and contains thirty-eight recommendations.

Over the last year, the tourism association has collaborated with many partners to act on several of these recommendations. These include the conduction of an end-of-stay survey aimed at refining the tourism intelligence of the region, and a communication campaign targeting both the visitors (I care for Les Îles) and the residents (We love it in Les Îles).

Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine's application distinguished itself through its mobilization of the stakeholders around the development of the strategy and the implementation of the projects.

Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine congratulates all finalists and winners of the event.

Prix excellence tourisme is the most important competition in the tourism industry. It aims to recognize the talent, the realizations and the expertise of the sector's actors who work to make the province of Québec a sustainable, responsible and thriving world-class destination.
