Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine's Website Among the Best in 2013

The Regional tourism association of Les Îles de la Madeleine is proud to announce that it has won a coveted prize at the 19th edition of the Boomerang Awards. These awards are Québec's standard of excellence in the field of interactive communications. This year's awards ceremony was held on December 5, in Montréal.

Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine's prize was awarded in the category "Site ou application de marque grand public - PME". The winners were chosen by a jury of members of Éditions Infopresse. The award recognizes that our site is one of the best Websites produced in Québec during the past year.

In addition, our site obtained a third place mention in the category "Grand prix du public 2013". This third place among 123 participating sites was earned with 588 votes cast by the general public in favour of Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine's Website. This recognition by the general public justifies strategic choices for a dynamic and colourful presentation that is a true reflection of the destination. The success of the new site, with both the general public and Québec communications professionals, is a huge morale booster. It shows that Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine made the right choices of technological innovations to offer a quality experience both for the planning of a stay and for its enjoyment while at the destination.

The prize awarded by the interactive communications community is in addition to a recent tribute from Réseau de veille en tourisme. They cited Tourisme Îles de la Madeline's Website as an efficient and inspiring example of adaptive site. A similar homage was paid in a column published on the e-tourisme site.

Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine thus received well-earned rewards for close to one year of sustained coordination of the services of three firms who were working to a very tight deadline. The Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine team wishes to congratulate and give full credit to Adviso, Lubie and Numérique Technologies inc. whose expertise made this big project possible.

It is worth pointing out that Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine's new Website uses a search engine that is both simple and clearly presented on the home page. This makes it easier for visitors to reserve their transportation and lodging on line. With this engine, a few clicks give access to practically all lodging available throughout the archipelago. The headings WHERE TO SLEEP, WHERE TO EAT, WHAT TO DO and WHAT'S ON make the tourism offerings of the destination available in real time. Since it was launched in 2013, visits to Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine's Website have already increased by more than 10 %.

The Boomerang contest
For some 19 years, Boomerang has been Québec's standard of reference for interactive communications. The Boomerang contest has become synonymous with excellence in the industry. As well, it is a showcase for Québec's outstanding achievements in this field.
