Arrimage announces new promotional tools for cultural tourism

Arrimage introduces 15 promotional video clips featuring artists and professional artisans of the Îles de la Madeleine Visual Arts and Handicrafts Circuit. The clips take you where inspiration occurs and into artists' studios where works are created before your eyes.

These new promotional tools will further extend the outreach of this group of enterprises whose products feature quality, authenticity and distinctiveness. Visits to the art galleries, boutiques and studios are important components of the tourism experience offered on Îles de la Madeleine and they represent a substantial contribution to the economy. Data compiled from the exit-surveys by the Regional Tourism Association show that, during their stay, visitors will spend close to 10 % of their travel budget on the purchase of art and craft works. The total revenue generated by this business sector is estimated at 3.94 million dollars1.

This project is a part of the 2012-2017 action plan developed under the ACCORD Recreational Tourism Cluster for Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine. One of the objectives of the plan is to support networks of enterprises in the development of their brand images. The total budget totals $30,000. The Ministère des Finances et de l'Économie contributed an amount of $9,960 for this project, through the Programme d'appui aux secteurs stratégiques et au développement des créneaux d'excellence. Financial support was also provided by the Conseil des métiers d'art du Québec (CMAQ), the Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEQ), Caisses Desjardins des Îles and Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine. As well, members of the Visual Arts and Handicrafts Circuit and Arrimage were among the financial contributors.
