"A GOURMET SPREE TO THE MAGGIES": ONCE AGAIN, SUCCESS BEYOND EXPECTATIONS!

"A GOURMET SPREE TO THE MAGGIES": ONCE AGAIN, SUCCESS BEYOND EXPECTATIONS!

Cap-aux-Meules, July 10, 2012 - Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine's promotion team announces the official closure of its spring contest entitled A Gourmet Spree to the Maggies and expresses great satisfaction for the success attained by the event.

The 2012 edition of the A Gourmet Spree to the Maggies obtained the largest number of applications ever recorded for a contest launched by Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine.  Close to 34,000 contestants put their names in for a chance to win a grand prize valued at 3,600 dollars.  One of those names was drawn on the morning of July 9, and Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine is pleased to announce officially that the prize has been won by Jean-Guy Landry, of Montréal.  Mr. Landry has won a cruise for two on CTMA Vacancier, offered by Croisières CTMA, two nights at Domaine du Vieux Couvent, plus two breakfasts and two evening dinners in the Réfectoire, one evening meal in one of the restaurants participating in the Wild Gourmet Spree, and a car rental offered by Hertz.

The winner is delighted to have won this prize. "I was born in Caraquet, in New Brunswick. We have toured the Maritimes, the Gaspé peninsula, Lac Saint-Jean, and the North Shore... We had not yet done Les Îles!  I entered the contest with the hope that it would be my turn to win, and there it is!  What more could I ask for my recent retirement," said Mr. Landry.

Every year, Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine, with the cooperation of some of its members, launches a contest designed to promote the spring season in the archipelago and which emphasizes seafood and the gastronomic experience offered in the region.  This year, the contest was promoted directly to the 78,000 subscribers of the Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine newsletter and through the various social media, as well as a few external media, such as Ricardo Cuisine's newsletter and the Web site of Québec Vacances.

Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine wishes to offer sincere thanks to its key partners - Cruises CTMA, Domaine du Vieux Couvent, Le Bon goût frais des Îles de la Madeleine and Hertz Rent-A-Car - as well as to each and every participant in the contest.
