A Stroll under the Apple Trees

Travel responsibly and sustainably

The story of how an unusual orchard by the seaside has become the apple of everyone's eye

Verger Poméloi is the first and only orchard on the islands. From its hillside location, it produces unique and flavourful ciders. After a stroll through the orchard, enjoy a guided tasting session offered by Éloi and family, who pair appetizers with each of the ciders to make the experience complete. These tasty morsels are made on the premises and include local products from L'Arbre à Pains micro-bakery, the Biquettes à l'air cheese house, and others.

The Vigneau family will guide you through the steps of making cider

While you're discovering these fine alcoholic beverages, we challenge you to pick out which are made with help of the bees at Miel en Mer!

As you wander the orchard, you'll want to peek through the trees to admire the outline of Havre-Aubert Island. You may also have a chance to see the apples trapped inside a few special bottles, which seem be growing on the trees! The orchard's signature liqueur is La Poméloi, a skillful blend of apple brandy and cider. It's truly delightful. To be sure you'll get to taste it someday, you can choose a bottle in a tree, photograph it and reserve your La Poméloi for next season.

The labels on the bottles of Verger Poméloi cider also showcase the work of a Madelinot artisan. If you look closely, you'll see some of Julien Livernois' work, from the La Mémoire et la Mer collection.

Stop off at the gift shop and admire a line of ceramics created especially for Verger Poméloi by ceramic artist Patrick Leblond. Another great example of Bassin artisans working together.
