Centre nautique l'Istorlet is a vacation center, incorporated in 1973, in Havre-Aubert, Magdalen Islands. This social enterprise (NPO), recognized by Tourisme Québec, offers a wide variety of nautical activities, custom-made packages, camps for children, and different types of accommodations. Istorlet offers many family activities. The most popular activity is sea kayaking to visit caves and cliffs. Lessons are also available, from beginner level to expert, on the sheltered bay «Le Bassin». Windsurfing lessons are available. Sailing lessons are also available using the, Caravelle, Laser 1, and Optimist. For experienced sailors and surfers, equipment is available for rental. Also, it is possible to rent: stand up paddle boards (SUP), canoes, surf kayaks, rabaskas and bikes. Children (7 to 14 years old) who want to enjoy the different activities at Istorlet can participate in a nature class (May-June), a nautical camp or a day camp (July-August). The international Storytelling Festival "Contes en Îles", flagship of oral heritage in the Magdalen Islands is coming back for a 17th edition. One of the oldest studio in Quebec province, La Meduse has three glass artists: François Turbide, master glassblower, founder of the studio and glass artist for over 30 years, Sophie Bourgeois, glass artist and Catherine Chevrier-Turbide, daughter of Mr. Turbide and glass artist herself. Passionate of mariculture, Mr Christian Vigneau start fishing as he was fourteen years old. He own it business La Moule du large inc, since more than ten years. The site offshore to farm his mussels and oysters is at seven kilometres from Cap-aux-Meules wharf. It's the only enterprise in North America to use that method for the production of different products. The oyster and mussel managed to distance themselves from other by being juicier with a more salty taste and fleshy consistency. You can get yours at our office at 26 Chemin du Quai at Pointe-Basse wharf in front of the Smoke Herring House. The Municipality of Grosse-Ile is a small Anglophone community reconstituted on January 1, 2006, situated on the Eastern sector of the Magdalen Islands. This island forms what is commonly known as the East End of the archipelago, and it is the best model of a natural conservation site on the Îles de la Madeleine. The East Point Wildlife Reserve connects the islands to one another. The anglophone inhabitants of Grosse-Île are primarly fischermen and fish plant workers. The salt mine, located at the entrance to the Grosse-ILe district, an impressively large installation, is unique in North America. Salt is mined from huge domes that form part of the geological base of the islands. Grosse Île Island is home to many bird watching sites.
The Municipality offers visitors many kilometers of hiking and cycling trails, with scenery. To help preserve the environment, visitors are invited to sort out the rubbish, from the recycling and organic waste.

The Little Red School House is part of CAMI's Historical Heritage Complex, and is nestled in the small village of Old Harry within the Municipality of Grosse Ile. The Little Red Schoolhouse is a reminder of simpler times where students gathered into a one room schoolhouse to learn their daily lessons. At the Little Red Schoolhouse one can visualize the old classroom with the aid of the existing hardwood floor, chalkboard, and two original desks. Over the years the museum's collection has grown and evolved to include old photographs, stories, and artifacts that help depict days gone by. These items will bring you back in time and give you an inside view of the English speaking community and their way life. Welcome in the marvellous world of the Magdalen Islands's Auberge. Here you are on the Gros-Cap peninsula, a big carved red rock in the blue St-Laurence Gulf. The sea is all over the place! The sea birds dance on the wind flow and the waves play music on sand or in the deep caves... Ambiance is unique. The hostel, witche is a free-smoke building, has 9 bedrooms ( 3 privates and 6 shared). It can hold 30 peoples. On the base level you will find a kitchen, dinning and living room, and 3 bathrooms and there is a toilet on the first floor. We have Internet wire-less (Wi-Fi) and we also have 2 computers. The laundry is in the Pavillon Montreuil, the building next. Our vacation center also owns 10 little rooms at the second floor of the Pavillon Montreuil including two singles bed 39in. They are simple and clean rooms which may be suitable for all types of travelers. The roomers have a complete shared kitchen and they share the bathrooms with the Park campers. It's the perfect place to meet people and share about islands discovery... You can also discover the peninsula'secrets through a sea kayak tour with our experienced guides.
