Joys of Winter

Magalen Islands during Winter

The sea, lagoons, hills and the marine environment of the islands have attracted you in the summer? Imagine the winter! The scenic beauty and authenticity of the Islanders are still at the rendezvous. The only thing missing is you! Because the islands are beautiful whatever the season and the weather and we invite you to experience pristine winter landscape where you practice all activities as original and challenging. Whatever your choice of activity, seal observation, or a guided tour, these will help you discover landscapes of infinite beauty.

Every year, the Magdalen Islands are the appointment of wind and slide sports enthusiasts. In winter, the frozen lagoons of the archipelago offer large spaces for sports such as kite skiing. But to better approach the hidden beauty of the archipelago, a cross-country skiing or snowshoeing activity is the best to breathe fresh air and be charmed by the beauties of the Islands. And why not finish by night in a yurt on the enchanting site of the Butte du Vent hill?

The Seal Interpretive Centre in Grande-Entrée will offer a visit to explore the world of the seal to familiarize yourself with this fascinating mammal. Enhance your stay by visiting the Musée de la Mer to better understand the components of the "Madelinot" culture. Winter on the Islands is primarily a privileged contact with the Islanders and their traditional sense of hospitality. Take time to talk with the fishermen and take time also to practice ice fishing on the lagoons. Experience also a good time being around the Magdalen Islands as part of carnival festivities or the Mi-Carême.

To know about things to do during the winter, check out the cultural calendar on the website of Arrimage, the cultural corporation of the Islands.
