Kites

For kiting, there is no place on earth better than the Islands! The winds are reliable and large open spaces like the beaches make it easy to test your skills on acrobatic kites, power kites or any other wind-powered devices. Specialized boutiques organize competitions, demonstrations and construction workshops.

Beware of power lines. Make sure it is safe to fly before you send your kite up. Transport Canada rules forbid the operation of any flying apparatus (kite, remote-controlled planes, ultra-lights, etc.) within 5 nautical miles from an airport (+ or - 10 km). Ask the specialists to suggest safe places for you to practice flying your kite.

Kite-building workshops for children are offered every day at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Your kids will love the "Creative Book of Kites".Each child colours his or her creation, assembles it and installs a multi-coloured tail before casting it to the wind.The workshop lasts 90 minutes and each child takes his or her kite home.Wonderful fun guaranteed!
