Itineraries

The Îles de la Madeleine offer a wealth of exceptional sites for enjoyable kayak trips. The geography of the archipelago creates a mosaic of routes that will delight both amateur and expert paddlers. Remember that the routes suggested here cannot take the place of experience, good judgement and the advice of an experienced local guide. Even if you have your own equipment, please do not hesitate to call on the outdoor sports businesses that are members of Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine. They represent the ideal way to explore the archipelago in perfect safety. Itineraries are listed in four levels of difficulty, from easy to expert. Remember! Weather conditions (which are extremely variable), are not considered when establishing these levels.

 

 

 

L'Anse à la Cabane

Level : Moderate - Demanding

The cliffs along the south shore of Havre Aubert Island are breathtakingly beautiful. Le Gros Cap (" Cap de la Roche ") shelters many different bird species and bird watchers will be delighted with what they find there. Circuit relatively sheltered from north winds.

 

Les Demoiselles

Level : Easy

Les Demoiselles, one of the geomorphological and geological jewels of the archipelago, are steeply-sloped, rounded hills composed of red, green and gray clay, basalt, gypsum and alabaster. Seen from the water, they are a spectacular sight. Use the La Grave historical site as your starting or arrival point, and you will also be able to stroll along and enjoy the relaxed, convivial atmosphere of the site. Circuit relatively well protected from south-west winds.

This astounding rocky prominence has earned its reputation! Gros Cap's network of tunnels and grottoes is a perfect example of the incessant, relentless assault of the sea on the land.
