Travel responsibly and sustainably

The 2022 tourist season has begun!

The Magdalen Islands, June 3, 2022 — On Wednesday, June 1st, Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine inaugurated the beginning of the 2022 tourist season. The 2022 annual general assembly was held on the morning of the same day. Following a statement from the Association's president, Jacky Poirier, the ATR team presented its 2021-2022 annual report to the members and partners present, about 50 people. Around 68,000 visitors came to the Magdalen Islands in 2021. Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine counts 300 members as of March 31, 2022, making the Association the representative of a well-established industry.

Discussion Panel

The launch of the tourist season opened with a discussion panel on the hospitality of the Magdalen Islanders.

This panel was led by Denis Bourque from Escale Îles de la Madeleine, and featured Maxime Arseneau, Pauline Gervaise Grégoire and Jacky Poirier.

It was the occasion for those in attendance to exchange with the panellists on the different meanings of hospitality in the Magdalen Islands.

Communication Plan

Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine's marketing team and the Substance agency took advantage of the day to unveil the new two-fold communications strategy.

In addition to the different communication channels levelled for this campaign, visitors are invited to use the online platform auxilesjemengage.com to learn about the archipelago's unique characteristics. The website also encourages them to confirm their commitment to following responsible and sustainable practices on the Magdalen Islands.
