Maxime and Jean-Mathieu - Fishing as a Way of Life

Fishing video, Îles de la Madeleine

The Magdalen Islands, April 9th, 2019 - The Association Touristique des Îles-de-la-Madeleine is proud to present the first video segment of a series featuring the Islanders and their everyday life on the Islands.

This first video features Maxime and Jean-Mathieu, brothers and fisherman's sons. One of them enjoys fishing, but not enough to turn it into a living. As for the other, there wasn't any doubt - everyone always knew he would grow up to become a captain.

Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine shares Maxime's and Jean-Mathieu's story in video and in words on its dedicated blog #fousdesiles. Viewers and readers will get to know them and to discover what unites them in these two honest and authentic accounts.

Through these videos narrated by the people involved, visitors will be offered a close-up glimpse of life on the archipelago. The videos are filmed during the fall, winter and spring seasons and will be released accordingly to help develop tourism year-long and extend the high season. The broadcasting of the videos will follow a strategic schedule created for the entire year. This contrasts with what was done in previous years, where most efforts were concentrated at the beginning of the summer.
