12th edition of Tourism Day: A day dedicated to the promotion

On October 26, Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine held the 12th edition of Tourism Day. The event allowed the members and partners of the Association touristique régionale to learn more about different subjects related to the promotion of the destination. No less than 80 people took part in the event!

Following the assessment of the summer season of 2016, M. Frédéric Gonzalo, a marketing and communication enthusiast, enlightened the participants regarding the importance of maintaining a good reputation online and ensuring a dynamic presence. His presentation allowed the participants to talk about good practices on the main platforms in tourism, including TripAdvisor, Facebook and Google. Three workshops related to his conference also allowed to develop the subject:

• Instagram: How to benefit from the travellers' pictures and increase your visibility? (In French only)
TripAdvisor: The reference for travellers' opinions and how to manage your reputation through this platform (In French only)
How to measure and improve your performances on Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine's website? (In French only)

During the afternoon, storytelling—a set of techniques allowing to build a story around a brand to move potential visitors—was the topic of group discussion lead by Karine Miron, associate director of marketing for Parkour3. We would like to thank Ariane Arsenault (La Fille de la Mer), Geneviève Joyal (LA Renaissance), Simon Beaubien (Bon goût frais des Îles), Frédéric Gonzalo (Gonzo Marketing) and Marie-Christine LeBlanc (Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine) for their participation. Their involvement allowed the introduction of the workshop to implement the campaign #ilesdelamadeleine in the tourism businesses in 2017.

We also wish to thank all the members and partners who took part in the event, as well as our sponsors:
