Year-round access to the Îles de la Madeleine

January 14, 2009

You can now take a ferry to the Islands any time!   Thanks to a long-awaited winter route between Souris and Cap-aux-Meules, travellers can now make the trip in February and March.   Transport Canada is financing a pilot project which offers two return trips per week during those months.  The people of the Magdalens and the town of Souris in Prince Edward Island are all delighted with this news, as they hope that the winter transportation link will have a positive economic impact on their regions.   Passengers travelling in February and March will sail on the N.M. CTMA Vacancier.  The  pilot project could develop into a permanent link if enough travellers make use of it during the trial year.

The CTMA Vacancier will make the first of its newly scheduled crossings to Prince Edward Island on February 3. See attached timetable for more details.

You can now make cruise reservations online for your next trip to the Îles de la Madeleine aboard one of the CTMA Group ships.
